Friday Cyber day blog
Nobody knows exactly when and where Plato was born. We do know that he came from an Aristocratic family, meaning very rich and influential. Most scholars think that he was born in Athens around 420BC. Growing up, he was taught grammar, music, and gymnastics and it is said that he wrestled at the Isthmian Games. Plato traveled to Italy, Sicily, Egypt, and Cyrene. He returned to Athens at the age of 40. Plato founded the earliest known school called The Academy. It was destroyed in 84BC by Lucius Cornelius Sulla. Pretty embarrassing to have your school destroyed by somebody named Lucius.... Plato is thought to have died in his sleep. Plato often discussed Father-Son relationships. He also believed that knowledge is a matter of recollection, and not learning, observation. or study; even though he complained about his forgetfulness. Plato was also the first person to start a conspiracy theory that we all live in the Matrix. "The theory of Forms (or theory of Ideas) typically refers to the belief that the material world as it seems to us is not the real world, but only an "image" or "copy" of the real world."
